Did You Know?

Habitat for Humanity has a presence in more than 90 countries, building more than 250,000 homes.

We have built 79 homes in Denton County.

The average cost to build a home in Denton County is $60,000.

We tithe 10% of our building funds to Habitat for Humanity International to build homes in Africa, India, Mexico, and others.

There are an estimated 12,000 families in Denton County who do not have decent affordable housing.

Habitat is a Hand-Up and not a Hand-Out. Habitat homeowners have a zero percent home loan that must be repaid just like other home owners. Their principal payments are put into a revolving account called a Fund for Humanity. As the amount in this fund builds, we are able to use these funds to help build another Habitat house.

Habitat home owners in Denton County pay over $65,000 in property taxes each year.

The foreclosure rate for Habitat houses in the United States is less than 1%. This means that these families know that they have been blessed and work hard to keep their homes.

Each Habitat affiliate like the one in Denton County, is responsible for raising their own funds to build homes for people who would not otherwise be able to obtain affordable housing.

With over 600,00 people in Denton County, if only 10% gave $30 per month (only $1 per day) we could build 12 houses per year.

People, churches, businesses, and civic organizations who help raise the money to build are given priority on our volunteer list to help us construct the home.

Those who participate in the build process often feel more blessed to have participated than the homeowner.

For as little as $5000 a church, business, or organization could participate in our annual Apostles Build.

Women play just as important role as men with us. Habitat for Humanity, Denton County has our Special Women Build campaign where women raise the funds, build the house, and a single mom usually becomes the homeowner.
